 I want you look into other formats of editorials. Humor and satire are other forms of saying things...ways of making a social commentary. I want you to look for humor and satire and write what you think it IS actually saying. What is the truth behind it! For example!

 On April 4 we watched the documentary "Mickey Mouse Monopoly" which deconstructs our common view of Disney-- a place we see as whole and pure while others don't really see it that same way. There are always two sides of the same coin. If you haven't seen it please click on the title of the movie which will direct you to site that has it. I've been called into a meeting with Dr. Ann Allbuyeh (Graduate Studies Coordinator) now at 11:30 since it is the only time she can meet with me (I am the PhD Student Rep). What to do? Plenty! Get up to do date Give feedback And if you are through with all that then you will do the following...this is light so have fun! Choose two songs: One you really like and one you really really really DISLIKE! 1. Post both videos 2. Talk to me about the lyrics of each 3. What is it about those particular songs that you like...what is it that you REALLY dislike 4. What type of music do you generally go for 5. ONLY ONE OK! I AM WATCHING YOU......... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!  Now, go over your description, looking for every word that carries frightening or painful associations. These words have more power than you might think.
Make 3 columns: One with loving words, another with neutral words and other words that carry stress, anger of judgement! Which column has more words? Why do you think that that is so? How many times have you done this before? How does this make you feel? What do you see that is revealing? What did you learn about yourself?  GOOD MORNING!!! Yay...Halloween Week! October is almost over and November promises to be a short month!
I've been observing some patterns that have kept me thinking. When I assign feedback I mean FEEDBACK! This is not "Let me do whatever else time!" Either you are giving feedback or getting up to date on your postings. I know who's falling behind and who is up to date. You guys know I know, so how do you NOT know or want to believe that this will affect your grade adversely. Your feedback is part of your grade. How you give feedback and that you do it in a timely manner is part of your grade as well as you entries. I've told you this from the beginning! No excuses. For those of you who are up to date and are an active member of this writing community...YAY!!! Thank you for your seriousness with the class and keep up the good work! For today: Take 15 minutes and write a description of your life—stream of consciousness, no self-judgment, no editing. JUST WRITE!! SILENCE! Describe you life...
